Pallet-track had its very first FLT driver challenge at the hub on sunday 18th august and we decided to make it a family affair by combining it with a family fun day.
The sun was shining, the party was pumping and there was a lot of fun!! We had bouncy castles, milk the cow, the pit stop challenge and a penalty shoot-out, DJ Dave kept the party moving and with a hog roast lunch and BBQ for all, the smiles on the day were as big as the prizes.
The competitors of Pallet-Track FLT Driver Challenge had two courses, one inside the hub and one outside, with viewing areas so that family and friends could watch the competition. It is billed as the “The Ultimate Operator Challenge 2013” and the aim is not specifically to identify the one operator who possesses the supreme skills and knowledge, but to encourage every operator to develop and achieve much higher standards of professional safety and efficiency.
It is considered that the safest and most efficient operators are also the quickest operators,
so Pallet-Track set their FLT Drivers the Challenge.
1st and 2nd place winners will now go to on compete in the national Forklift Cup Final in Castleford on Saturday 7th September and the winner of that competition will go to Aschaffenburg in Germany to compete in the international competition
The heats for the international challenge are planned throughout the year, culminating with the final on the 10th of November in Bolton. We will keep you posted about how our two winners are progressing and let you know if they make it to the international competition. We would like to congratulate them and wish them luck in the next stage and thank all of the FLT challengers and their families for making our first FLT Driver Challenge a very special day.
We had a very special day and we raised over £1000 for a very special cause, all the monies from this event will go to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton to help them purchase parent chair beds – this enables seriously ill children to have a parent close by when they are undergoing treatment which helps reduce the stress and anxiety for parents and assists in a child’s recovery.
